Regenerative Medicine, Amniotic Allograft, Stem Cells FAQ

South Lake Medical Center, Inc.

The team of specialists at South Lake Medical Center in Pasadena, California have achieved great success when using regenerative medicine in the form of Amniotic Allograft Tissue injections to treat patients with various joint issues causing decreased mobility and pain.

In most cases, patients have had such great response to the injections that they’ve been able to avoid surgical treatment for damaged joints. Amniotic Allograft Tissues are FDA-regulated for homologous use under 21 CFR Part 1271 and Section 361 of the Public Service Health Act. They are also FDA approved for use in "joint cushioning, lubrication and protection."

Call or connect online for a consultation and evaluation regarding this innovative and highly successful procedure. If you qualify for treatment, this procedure may be used to regenerate any joint in the body.

THIS IS A BRAND NEW, STATE-OF-THE-ART TREATMENT! IT IS ALSO USED FOR JOINT REGENERATION. ALL INJECTIONS ARE DONE WITH PRECISION-GUIDED DIAGNOSTIC ULTRASOUND TO ENSURE PROPER PLACEMENT OF AN INJECTION WITH ALMOST 100% ACCURACY TO RELIEVE YOUR PAIN.

Where does Amniotic Allograft Tissue come from?

Amniotic Allograft Tissue injection is derived from pregnant women between the ages of 18 and 35; healthy mothers who have a scheduled C-Section delivery and have donated for compensation their placentas and amniotic fluid to a tissue bank. Moms then receive monitoring for disease or other health complications throughout their pregnancy to ensure that the cells collected are of the highest medical quality.

During a scheduled C-Section, the amniotic fluid is harvested as well as the amnion side of the placenta (the immune privileged side), both of which are typically discarded. The harvested tissues are then tested again to ensure viability and safety. The tissue bank then uses this material to create the Amniotic Allograft Substance.

The tissues are processed to the highest standards in a state-of-the-art American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) accredited facility and the Allografts are subjected to stringent USP testing prior to release. South Lake Medical Center obtains its product from this tissue bank. Amniotic Allograft Tissue is FDA regulated for homologous use under 21 CFR Part 1271 and Section 361 of the Public Service Health Act for joint protection, cushioning, and lubrication. Using Amniotic Allograft Tissue is essentially the same as obtaining a tendon or ligament from tissue bank for use in surgical joint repair.

What’s so special about Amniotic Allograft Tissue?

Amniotic Allograft Tissue contains essentially new young cells having all the natural properties that allow the cells to proliferate and differentiate into whatever type of tissue is necessary to repair the affected area. The cells in the allografts are self-signaling (paracrine signaling). Studies demonstrate the chemical mediators in your body communicate with these cells directing them to differentiate into the tissue type needed for repair. The cells then begin to proliferate or grow to begin the regenerative process. Again, only one injection is typically necessary!

ONLY 1 INJECTION IS NECESSARY

SINCE ONLY 1 INJECTION IS NECESSARY, REGENERATIVE MEDICINE HERE AT OUR CLINIC IS EASILY AVAILABLE TO ANYONE ANYWHERE! WE TYPICALLY SEE PATIENTS FROM ALL OVER SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, FROM OUT OF STATE AND FROM OUT OF THE COUNTRY EVEN ALL THE WAY FROM THE PHILIPPINES FOR OUR SERVICES.

Amniotic Allograft Tissue is highly bioactive AND also contains antimicrobial factors that protect against infection, anti-inflammatory factors that reduce inflammation, and anti-adhesive factors that increase joint mobility as well as contain multiple types of growth factors that stimulate cells in the allograft. At most these tissues are only nine months old, just common sense tells you that younger cells are much more effective when used for regeneration.

Unlike other facilities, the experts at South Lake Medical Center choose not to treat their patients with Autologous Stem Cells. The autologous Stem Cells, which are harvested from a person’s own bone marrow or body fat and are the same age as the patient lacking the proven bioactivity of Amniotic Allograft Tissue.

Many doctors using autologous stem cell tissue injections require the patient to undergo multiple injections before any improvement at all is noted. Factors affecting this are the patient's age, mechanical degradation in the harvesting centrifuge, and patient's medical health history.

WITH AMNIOTIC ALLOGRAFT REGENERATIVE MEDICINE INJECTIONS AGAIN, ONLY 1 INJECTION IS TYPICALLY NECESSARY

Is the injection painful?

No. The doctor uses only freshly harvested cells that arrive at South Lake Medical Center frozen to -86 degrees below zero. Once thawed, which takes approximately 15 minutes, the cells are injected after the skin has already first been treated with an anesthetic, making the procedure completely painless. Patients who receive Amniotic Allograft Tissue injections also receive four sessions of Mega Class IV Laser Therapy™ and rehabilitative exercise to restore joint function, as well as any follow-up visits with the doctor if necessary.

What results do we typically expect?

Anecdotally we notice approximately 20% of our patients feel an improvement in about two weeks; 50% of our patients feel an improvement in 4 to 6 weeks, and 27% of our patients feel an improvement anywhere from 3 to 12 months. Only 3% of patients don't respond with no other side effects. They just simply don't respond to this type of treatment.

This procedure can be used to help regenerate any joint.
