Peripheral Neuropathy is the result of damage to the nerves often causing weakness, pain, numbness, tingling and the most debilitating of balance problems. This damage is commonly caused by lack of blood flow to the nerves in the hands and feet (Figure 1) which causes them to begin to degenerate due to the lack of nutrient blood flow.
As you can see (Figure 2) as the blood vessels that surround the nerve become diseased, they shrivel up which causes the blood supply to recede and the nerves do not to get the nutrients they need to continue to survive. When these nerves begin to “die” they cause you the symptoms of your neuropathy you have: balance problems, pain, numbness, tingling, burning, electrical sensations, and many other additional symptoms.
The main problem you’ve probably got is that your doctor has told you just to “live” with the pain, or take various medications all with harmful side effects the rest of your life.
Have you had enough of this yet? Now there is a facility right here in Southern California that offers you New Hope without taking all those endless drugs, all with serious side effects.
In order to effectively treat your neuropathy three factors must be determined:
There are over 100 different types of neuropathy that have been identified.
We will test your nerves to determine how much degeneration your neuropathy has already caused with a painless sensory evaluation.
NOTE: We do not accept anyone for treatment that has sustained 85% or more in nerve sensory loss. We will not be able to accept you as a patient once 85% of nerve damage has occurred. At that point, your nerves are too badly degenerated to respond to our treatment.
It depends on how much nerve damage has occurred. The treatment that is provided at South Lake Medical Center has four main goals:
The equipment to increase blood flow utilizes specialized rehabilitation treatment in the form of Southern California’s only Mega Pulsed Class IV Laser ™, Functional Neurology Rehab Therapy ™, and Mega Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF)™. All these treatments are unique only to our clinic and tend to stimulate circulation in these areas. We also utilize light emitting diode therapy (LED), and some forms of vibration therapy that have been proven to increase circulation.
These therapies allow the blood vessels to grow back around the peripheral nerves and provide them with the proper nutrients to heal and repair. It’s like adding water to a plant and seeing the roots grow deeper and deeper. (Figure 3).
The amount of treatment needed to allow the nerves to fully recover varies from person to person and can only be determined after detailed neurological sensory evaluation. As long as you’ve not yet sustained 85% nerve damage or more, then your condition can be treated.
The experienced providers at South Lake Medical Center will do an in-depth neuropathy severity examination to determine the extent of the nerve damage. This neuropathy severity examination will consist of a detailed sensory evaluation, physical examination, diagnostic testing, and a detailed analysis of the findings of your neuropathy.
Call our office now to determine if your neuropathy can be treated. The only thing you have to lose is your pain!
All of our treatments are evidence based on published studies demonstrating effectiveness.
